Vadodara: For families having pets, weekend outings were always a challenging issue with many places being off limits for the four-legged members. However, that irritation will soon be passé with this first-of-its-kind ‘Dogger’s Park’ coming up in the city, where the dogs can ‘pawsitively’ enjoy to the fullest.
Pet-loving Barodians can also relax at a café in
Alkapuri while their canine sprints around on lawns and plays in the pool and has already become a hit for pet and owners who can socialize at leisure.
The Dogger’s Park located in
New Alkapuri is spread over 30,000square-feet along with a café.
“The idea is to give a cosy corner to the pets who don’t have many places to play, run around and indulge themselves. In urban areas, not many open spaces are available and most parks don’t allow pets,”
Jay Patel, a city-based businessman, told TOI.
“Also, the owners want to hang out in restaurants or cafes, they seldom get to bring their pets. The Dogger’s Park will have a slew of activities for the dogs and also a café for the owners to hang around,” said the owner, adding that his park will open next month.
“There will be handlers for pets, a playing area, grooming lounge and other activities. While only dogs will be allowed in the Dogger’s Park, owners can bring in any pet in the café,” Patel added.
Another Barodian,
Himanshu Vithhalani, who aimed to give a leisurely space to pets as well as their owners in the city, too started a unique cafe. “We started ‘Pefeteria’ in 2018 wherein owners could walk in with their pets and hang around at our café. Not many cafes or eateries allow pets and it puts owners in a quandary as they have to leave their pets at home. At our café, we encourage socializing and also host birthday celebrations of pets,” Himanshu said.
