Coimbatore: The city police arrested two people, who attempted to steal a cow, from Ukkadam-Selvapuram Bypass on Friday.
The arrested people were identified as K
Alaguraj, 23, a native of Virudhunagar district and his friend
K Kishore, 23, of Panapatti in Coimbatore district.
Devendran of
Selvapuram has been rearing 11 milking cows on a leased land on Ukkadam -Selvapuram Bypass. He used to free the cows to graze in the locality. On Friday around 1.30am, Alaguraj and Kishore, who were passing through the bypass in a goods autorickshaw, found a cow on the road and tried to load it in the vehicle.

Baskaran, who was on night patrol, questioned them, the duo gave contradictory statements. They finally confessed that they were trying to steal the animal.
The Selvapuram police registered a case against the duo and arrested them. The duo was remanded in judicial custody.
