NEW DELHI: Cricketer-actor-lawyer turned Supreme Court judge, Justice L Nageshwar Rao confessed on Friday that he had accepted judgeship at a “weak moment” and still thinks being a lawyer is much better than being a judge, reports Dhananjay Mahapatra. Justice Rao, who retires on June 7, said during the farewell ceremony that he had refused judgeship of SC in 2014 as he was supporting the education of a number of children. But in 2016, he acquiesced to the cajoling request from then CJI T S Thakur. “Even after becoming a SC Judge, I used to think like a lawyer. One day, I had told Justice (Ranjan) Gogoi, who had not become CJI then, that I am unable to think like a judge. He told me to continue doing so as that would make the task of understanding lawyers (arguments) better,” he said.
