MUMBAI: A 28-year-old man was arrested by Dadar GRP on Thursday for sexually harassing a woman commuter and stalking her over two days.
Prashant Dusane, the accused, lives in Titwala and does not have a prior criminal record, police said.
The 38-year-old woman, who is married and has a child, told the police that she was not acquainted with Dusane but he kept following her and insisted that she share her phone number with him. The woman works in a private company and lives in Thane with her family.
On Wednesday evening, she reached Dadar station to board a down local to head home. A little while after she took a seat in the first class ladies compartment, she noticed a man staring at her from the adjacent general compartment through the partition. Dusane wanted to travel to Titwala but alighted at Thane and started following her.
He went right up to the auto stand outside the station and stood near her in the queue, making sexual advances, police said.
On Thursday, she spotted Dusane again while she was waiting for a
Kasara local at Dadar station. He came up to her and started to ask for her phone number again.
The woman then approached the Dadar GRP. Dusane was arrested and booked under the
IPC.
