Ludhiana: While taking stringent action against those dyeing units that had certified to civic body that they have disconnected their sewer connections from municipal corporation (MC) sewer lines, team of operation and maintenance cell caught 30 such connections at Kakka Dhaula Road and disconnected those immediately on Friday. Besides this, sewer connections of seven more dyeing units were disconnected by the officials.
The officials claimed that these dyeing units should have sent their water to common effluent treatment plant ideally and they had given in writing too that they are not throwing any water in MC sewer line so they should not be charged any disposal charges.
In this drive, 30 units had connected at one place at Kakka Road while seven units were located in Focal point.
The officials claimed that these seven units had sewer connections with MC sewer line but there was no overflow of water when they snapped the connections. He said it is possible that they had already diverted their discharge but when they snapped 30 connections road started getting filled with water.
While confirming the move, executive engineer of MC,
Ranbir Singh said, “When we had served the disposal bills to these dyeing they had clearly denied by saying that they do not discharge anything to MC sewer lines, but now when we checked on spot, reality come to fore.” He said now PPCB should take action against such defaulter units that are sending their untreated discharge to MC sewer line and are disturbing the sewerage treatment plants as well as
