CHENNAI: Fresh cases of Covid-19 decreased marginally to 37 on Friday compared to 42 Thursday and 36 on Wednesday. The number of active cases also dropped to 315 compared to 322 on Thursday. The state continued its zero-death record keeping the cumulative toll at 38,025. By the end of the day, 44 patients were discharged from the state Covid-19 registry. Meanwhile, Chennai added 20 new cases — one less than its tally on Thursday — and it continued to be the only district to report cases in two digits. Chengalpet had eight new cases and two others — Coimbatore and Vellore had two each. Erode, Kancheepuram and Tiruvannamalai reported one new case each. Two patients from UAE and one from Kerala also tested positive on Friday. Thirty-one of 38 districts reported zero new cases.
