Couple in Guwahati kills landlord; Golaghat man stabs ex-neighbour

Guwahati: A couple living as tenants allegedly murdered their elderly landlord in Guwahati while an alleged drug addict murdered a neighbour for money in Golaghat district on Friday. Dharani Deka and his wife Rimi along with their two sons were living in the residence of Hemdhar Baruah (75) since last year at Japorigog under Dispur police station in Guwahati. Deka and his wife surrendered before the police after committing the crime. Police arrested the duo. “The matter is under investigation,” police said.
Baruah and his wife lived on their own as their son and daughter-in-law live in Bengaluru. Meanwhile, in Golaghat’s Athkhelia Charingia village, one Nazidul Hussain (28) allegedly stabbed his former neighbour Dipen Das (30). Family members of the victim alleged that Hussain had attacked them demanding money.
