MANGALURU: The Congress will hold a ‘chinthana manthana’ programme at the district level, across the state, in the second week of June, said KPCC working president Saleem Ahmed.
The district-level chinthana manthana meetings will be attended by nearly 200 leaders, including MLAs, former MLAs, district committee office-bearers, block level leaders and others. Various political issues, including the next assembly election will be discussed during the chinthana manthana programme. The party will give priority to youths who are below 50, during its organisation restructuring, he told the media here on Friday.
“More emphasis will be given to strengthen the party, and for a massive fight against corruption. The last three years of BJP, which came to power through ‘Operation Lotus’ is marked by corruption, and their achievements are zero. The whole nation came to know about the 40% commission taint on the BJP, after their own party worker Santosh Patil committed suicide. We have been demanding that the police book a case against Eshwarappa on corruption charges, and arrest him. However, the government has been protecting Eshwarappa,’’ he said, adding that Karnataka has become the nation’s capital of corruption.
The state has not witnessed any development after BJP came to power, he said. “Congress will hold protests in all the 224 assembly constituencies in the state, against the corrupt BJP government. The government has no commitment towards people, and they are worried only about power and money. The BJP has lost confidence in winning elections. They are reluctant to hold elections to zilla panchayats, even after nearly one year of the schedule,” Ahmed claimed.
Communal forces are engaged in activities that lead to rifts in society, he said, and urged the government to ban organisations that pose a threat to harmony in society.
He expressed confidence that the Congress will win a majority, if the election is held any time, since people are upset with the BJP administration.
