The flight, which took off from Delhi at 11.45am, landed in Coimbatore at 2.40pm. It departed for Delhi at 3.15pm and reached there at 6.20pm.
Vistara, a joint venture of Tata Sons Private Limited and Singapore Airlines Limited, will start a service from Coimbatore to Mumbai from May 27 and two services to Bengaluru from June 3.
The city now has 22 domestic connections to destinations such as Chennai (7), Hyderabad (4), Mumbai (3), Bengaluru (3), New Delhi (3), Pune (1) and Tirupati (3 flights per week).
Chief commercial officer of Vistara Deepak Rajawat, who visited Coimbatore on Friday, said the firm will consider introducing more flights to Coimbatore based on the potential of the routes. “Coimbatore is our 31st route. It has a lot of tourist attractions, and a lot of tourists are visiting the city. A lot of IT companies are setting up their offices and several industries are expanding operations. Hence, the city has a lot of potential.”
“When I landed in the airport today, many people asked me to operate flights on the Chennai route, saying that it has good potential. We will certainly consider adding a flight in the sector if there is potential,” Deepak added.TNN
