Sharpshooter still at large, but Anthony’s close associate nabbed

Vadodara: The detection of crime branch (DCB) has nabbed a close associate of sharpshooter Anil alias Anthony Gangwani from Sayaji Park Road in the city. Deepak Sharma, a resident of New VIP Road, had been on the run for several months. The cops, however, have not been able to trace Anthony who fled from the Chhota Udepur police custody a fortnight ago.
The police said that Sharma, a notorious criminal, is accused in a fraud and threatening case filed at Panwad police station in Chhota Udepur and a prohibition case registered in Vadodara rural in February this year. Investigating officials said that Sharma has been involved in several crimes with Anthony.
He is accused in a highway loot case of 2014, firing in Mumbai, burglaries, thefts, liquor selling and the Arms Act. The cops said that they will interrogate Sharma to find out if he has any idea about Anthony’s whereabouts. Anthony had fled from the police custody when he was brought to a hotel in Sayajigunj 15 days ago. tnn
