Man booked for attacking dog and its owner near Coimbatore

COIMBATORE: The Thondamuthur police in Coimbatore district have registered a case against a 27-year-old man for attacking a dog and its owner with roof tiles.
The dog owner, identified as K Kumar, 45, of Puthupalayam, suffered severe injuries on his head and mouth. He was admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) of Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital (CMCH).
Kumar, a native of Andhra Pradesh, was residing in a rental house with his family members and was engaged in selling utensils.
Around 10.30pm on Thursday, N Santhosh Kumar, 27, a labourer, was walking towards his home. When he crossed the residence of Kumar, the pet dog started to bark at him. Santhosh Kumar, who was under the influence of alcohol, picked up roof tiles and attacked the dog.
Kumar came out of the house and questioned Santhosh Kumar. Santhosh Kumar fought with him and asked him not to keep a pet dog at the residence. He assaulted Kumar with roof tiles.
The Thondamuthur registered a case against Santhosh Kumar under sections 294 (b), 324 and 506 (i) of the Indian Penal Code.
Sub-inspector Arulprakash visited the hospital and held an inquiry with Kumar. Preliminary inquiries revealed that the dog did not suffer any injuries.
The police have formed a special team to nab Santhosh Kumar.
