Was honey-trapped, had consensual sex: Rajasthan minister’s son Rohit Joshi

JAIPUR: Rohit Joshi, son of cabinet minister Mahesh Joshi, who is accused of raping and blackmailing a 23-year-old woman, alleged that the woman had honey-trapped him and the sexual relations he had with her was consensual.
In his petition filed in the Delhi high court to quash the FIR, he said they came into contact through social media and the woman took the initiative and made a friendship request. Due to his father's goodwill and standing in the society, he has high social status and rank and these may have prompted her to make the friendship, he said.
Last year, on January 8, they went to Ranthambore with friends and had mutually consensual sex.
He said they were in contact for more than a year and exchanged gifts. He alleged that she was blackmailing him and demanded that he get a divorce from his wife for a live-in relationship with her. “The woman eventually succeeded partially by way of harassment and blackmail. A live-in agreement was executed on February 25 this year in Jaipur by a notary public and a divorce petition was filed against his wife under Section 13B of the Hindu Marriage Act,” he said. He said he had agreed to divorce his wife and marry her due to his father's objections.
The woman had filed an FIR at Delhi's Sadar Police station on May 8 against Rohit alleging repeated rape and blackmail. A case has been registered against him under sections 376 (rape), 328 (causing hurt by means of poison, etc., with intent to commit an offense), 312 (causing miscarriage), 366 (kidnapping, abducting, or inducing woman to compel her marriage, etc), 377 (unnatural offenses) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), the police said.
