Ranchi: BJP's Godda MP Nishikant Dubey on Friday night claimed on Twitter that the Election Commission has asked chief minister Hemant Soren and his lawmaker brother Basant to appear in person on May 30 and May 31. In a late night tweet, Dubey wrote: "According to sources, chief minister Hemant Soren and his younger brother Basant Soren have been given a chance to appear in person to save their memberships in Jharkhand Vidhan Sabha. Our party has got this chance too. One brother will appear on May 30 and the other will appear on May 31." The office of the state chief electoral officer, the CMO and JMM did not confirm about CM and Basant receiving such notices. "It seems that Nishikant has become the EC's unofficial spokesperson for Jharkhand. It goes on to show that independent institutions are under the influence of the BJP," Jharkhand Congress spokesperson Rakesh Sinha said. TNN
