Rajkot: Son of sarpanch of Madargadh village in Sayla taluka of Surendranagar was killed and his relative critically injured after they were attacked by a group of people from the same village on Wednesday night. Police have deployed additional forces in the village after the incident to prevent any further flare-up between the two families.
According to police, the deceased was identified as Jayesh Kukadiya (25), son of village sarpanch Parshottam Kukadiya. Police have booked five persons including — Labhu Katosana, Shankar Katosana, Vanraj Katosana, Ajay Katosana and Vijay Katosana for murder, rioting and other relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
Explaining the series of events that led to the violence, police said that Jayesh’s cousin sister Komal was married in Khitla village. Her husband found out that she used to talk to Ajay Katosana of Madargadh village.
He informed Komal’s father Soma about it who asked Jayesh to talk to Ajay.
According to FIR filed by sarpanch Parshottam Kukadiya, Jayesh had called Ajay to meet near Ram temple in the village to settle the issue. However, Ajay came with his entire family and all were armed with weapons. Parshottam alleged that the accused had pre-planned the attack on Jayesh.
