Ludhiana: Claiming that parking mafia in city is flourishing under the new state government, Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) general secretary Parminder Mehta has shot off a letter to chief minister Bhagwant Singh Mann. In his letter, Mehta said, “After the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government took charge in the state, the parking mafia is looting people even more. The problem is becoming serious with passing of everyday and as far as Ludhiana is concerned here it has become a tradition that firstly wrongdoings are done in the parking contracts and later on the parking contractors loot and harass the people. In any location in the city, if parking is in private hands, people are being overcharged multiple times and government officials are turning a blind eye to this.” Mehta also added, “What is even worse that the officials cannot even make sure that all the paid parking areas in the city have display boards of parking. There is no denying that the parking mafia has become so strong only due to its collusion with some politicians. We urge CM Mann and AAP to work towards uprooting parking mafia from Ludhiana and Punjab if they are serious about their claims of bringing a revolutionary change in the state.”
