IGP motivated and appreciated the injured police officers for performing their duty diligently to save the lives of others.
YAMUNANAGAR: A day after an attack on a police team in Kalanpur village, Ambala range inspector general of police (IGP) Shrikant Jadhav accompanied by city superintendent of police (SP) Kamaldeep Goyal visited a private hospital in Yamunanagar on Friday to meet the injured cops. IGP motivated and appreciated the injured police officers for performing their duty diligently to save the lives of others. "Once these police officers get well, they will be honoured as they have saved several lives by stopping the accused from shooting at others. We are proud of our police officers as they did not care about their lives while performing their duties," said IGP Shrikant. Meanwhile, on the complaint of injured Chhapar SHO sub-inspector Jagdish Chander, the Yamunanagar police have booked an accused Parwinder Singh of Kalanpur village, under Section 186 (obstructing public servant in discharge of public function), 307 (attempt to murder), 333 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt to deter public servant from his duty) and 353 (criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of duty) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and 25-54-59 (punishment for certain offences and renewal of licenses) of the Arms Act at Chhapar police station in the early hours on Friday. SI Jagdish Chander said that he received the information that two brothers are fighting over land dispute in Kalanpur village and one man has shot at his brother. He said he asked the Panchtirthi police post in-charge to reach the spot and he too went there. "A man was seen waiving a pistol in the air and saying to the police party that if anybody came close to him, then he would shot at him. The man seemed very angry and I felt that he could cause serious loss of life. With the help of my team, we went close to the man and attempted to caught hold of him. We caught hold of his hand and in anger, he fired at me in attempt to murder", said SI Jagdish. He said he received two bullet injuries in his leg and feet. "When my teammate attempted to caught hold of him, he continued firing, and ASI Ram Kumar also received a bullet hit. Accused person (Parwinder) also received the injury in this incident", said SI Jagdish. Officiating Chhappar SHO officer SI Surjan Singh said, "SI Jagdish and ASI Ram Kumar are undergoing treatment at a private hospital, while accused Parwinder is under treatment at PGIMER, Chandigarh. Parwinder's brother, who had a narrow escape as a bullet kissed his head was discharged from the civil hospital, Jagadhri after treatment on Friday."
