Prayagraj: Criminal injured in encounter in trans-Ganga

PRAYAGRAJ: A wanted criminal was injured and arrested in an exchange of fire with the police near Khebrajpur village, under the limits of Tharwai police station in trans Ganga pocket of Prayagraj district, on late Wednesday night.
He was carrying Rs 50,000 cash on his head.
The injured criminal, identified as Chintoo Kharwar, a resident of Barun village in Aurangabad district (Bihar) was admitted at SRN hospital for treatment.
Police said that Chintoo was placed under ‘Most Wanted’ list by Prayagraj police in connection with killing of five members of a family who were battered to death in their house in Khebrajpur village under the limits of Tharwai police station in the intervening night of April 22and 23. Police had earlier arrested his brother Nawal Kumar Kharwar alias Nawala of Aurangabad who was also involved in killings last month.
Police have also seized a country made pistol of 0.315 bore along with live cartridges near the spot. With the arrest of Chintoo, police have managed to arrest a total of eight criminals who were involved in Khebrajpur killing incident.
