Woman doctor dies by suicide

Coimbatore: A 27-year-old woman doctor died by suicide at her residence in Mettupalayam on Thursday evening. The deceased has been identified as Dr Rasi, 27, wife of Dr Abhishek from Kattoor Road in Mettupalayam.
The Mettupalayam police said Dr Rasi was preparing for PG NEET examination. She was reportedly under depression as she was not able to focus on her studies for the last few days, police said.
“Around 3pm on Thursday, a family member knocked on the door of her study room. As she didn’t respond, the family member peeked into the room through a window and found Dr Rasi hanging from the ceiling,” a police officer said.
The family members informed the Mettupalayam police, who rushed to the spot and sent the body to the Mettupalayam government hospital for postmortem.
Police have registered a case under Section 174 (suspicious death) of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) and further investigation is on.
