LUCKNOW: The third groundbreaking ceremony being organised by the
Uttar Pradesh government will see 865 units of the medium, small and micro enterprises (MSME) department roll projects worth Rs 3,586 crore, an official spokesperson said on Wednesday.
This investment is part of the 1,500 projects worth Rs 75,000 crore slated to be launched during the ceremony likely to be attended by Prime Minister
Narendra Modi. The event is slated to take place on June 3 in the state capital.
“The investment will give a big push to the state’s economy while creating jobs for people in their own districts,” said
Navneet Sehgal, additional chief secretary, MSME and export promotion, adding that the targeted chunk of investment alone will generate over 48,000 jobs in the state.
Officials said that the highest number of MSME units would be set up in Meerut where 283 units will come up with an investment of Rs 702 crore. Here, 13,985 employment opportunities will be created. It will be followed by
Ayodhya where 128 units are coming up at an investment of Rs 915 crore. Together, they will create 5,991 jobs.
Projects to be launched on June 3 include those worth about Rs 21,000 crore in the IT and electronics sector besides many others in textile, tourism, energy, food processing and pharma sector.
Some prominent investors include: Adani Group's data centre (Rs 4,900 crore), Hiranandani Group's two data centres in Noida (Rs 9,100 crore), Microsoft's software development centre (Rs 2,100 crore) and Dalmia Group's cement manufacturing plant in Mirzapur (Rs 600 crore).
Designating Invest UP as the agency for conducting the groundbreaking ceremony, chief minister Yogi Adityanath reviews progress of work for the event daily. He has told officials to ensure the event is grander than the previous ceremonies.
