NEW DELHI: A 13-year old girl was allegedly kidnapped and gang-raped by at least four boys, including a juvenile. The incident was reported to the police on April 26 and a case was registered at Tigri police station in south Delhi. Besides nabbing the juvenile, police have also arrested three others so far.
On May 1, police received a tipoff about a juvenile involved in the kidnapping and rape of a girl in Tigri area. The boy was apprehended and he admitted to police that he and three friends, including Mohit and Akash, had assaulted the girl in the area and later in Mathura before abandoning her near her house. Benita Mary, DCP (South) said, “The accused have been identified as Mohit, 20, Akash alias Chuha, 19, and Shah Rukh, 19. A juvenile has also been apprehended."
A day later, the cops received a call from an unnamed woman, who informed them of the presence of the 13-year-old girl at the Saket metro station. The girl was rescued and her medical examination conducted. Her family was traced after a week. According to the girl’s father, some youths sexually assaulted her and also inserted a bottle in her genitalia.
After recording the girl’s statement, police filed a case for gang rape and also invoked the POCSO Act. The girl’s father alleged that the police have been pressuring the girl to change her statement and haven’t arrested all the accused so far.
Speaking to TOI, the girl's father alleged that the youths had made his daughter take a drink laced with sedatives before taking her to various places where seven men assaulted her. “She told me that the boys broke a beer bottle and threatened to cut her neck if she screamed. They also inserted a bottle in her private parts,” the father said. “I want justice for her. I want all the accused arrested.”
The girl had left home around 5pm to purchase vegetables on April 24. She shared an autorickshaw with the accused youths going to Shani Bazaar, around 2km from her house. When she didn’t return home, the family filed a police complaint on April 26.
The quartet confessed to taking the girl to Tigri that night and to Kosi, Mathura, the following day. They returned to Delhi on April 26 but kept the girl in their custody till April 30. On the morning of May 1, the freed girl reached Saket metro station from where she was recovered a day later.
