Motor & tractor parts’ traders urge AAP MLA to sort out issues

Ludhiana: The Ludhiana Motor and Tractor Parts Traders’ Association (LMPTA) held its annual general meeting (AGM) at a city hotel on Monday late evening. During the meeting, the association discussed the problems faced by the industry with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Ashok Prashar and AAP’s district president Suresh Goyal. The major issues that came up for discussion included pendency of tax refunds, irregular power supply to industry and high rate of GST on the industry.
Manmohan Bhambri, president of LMPTA said, “AAP leaders were invited as special guests to the AGM and in wake of the upcoming state budget, our members and office bearers gave list of our demands to them. The major issue being faced by us is the pendency of the VAT and GST refunds that should be expedited at the earliest. Besides this, the other important issue that needs to be addressed at the earliest is the supply of uninterrupted power to the industrial and commercial establishments so that the manufacturing and trading activity on which our economy is dependant heavily does not suffer.”
According to O P Kapoor, chairman of LMPTA, “Besides the budget related suggestions we also requested AAP leaders to solve the civic issues of the Miller Ganj area where the shops and offices of majority of our members and office bearers are located. We have also asked them that besides ensuring proper cleanliness of the area, the security should also be revamped there in order to avert any untoward incidents like robbery, as this area has now become a big commercial hub.”
According to Inderpreet Singh Tiwana, general secretary of the association, “Since our association now has huge membership base, we require a permanent office to manage day-today affairs and also to organise programmes related to the development of the trade and business. Therefore, we have requested the state government to allot us land for making office of LMPTA and also to nominate our association’s members to the committees for GST and income tax.” tnn
