BIHARSHARIF: A man in a
Nalanda died after allegedly consuming spurious liquor on Wednesday. While the wife of the deceased said he died after consuming spurious liquor, the police refuted her claim and attributed the death to medical complications.

Suryamani Prasad died after consuming spurious liquor. She said the deceased was an addict and consumed country liquor on Wednesday morning. She said he complained of severe stomach ache, nausea and vomiting and his condition deteriorated. He was taken to Noorsarai primary health centre (PHC) where he died during treatment.

Sushil Kumar conducted an on-the-spot investigation and found that the deceased died due to low blood pressure and low pulse rate, as mentioned by the doctors in his medical prescription.
Earlier, at least 12 residents of Chhoti Pahari locality under Noorsarai police station area of
Biharsharif had died after consuming spurious liquor on January 15 and 16 this year. Police had arrested 20 liquor smugglers from the locality and demolished their illegally constructed houses.
