Rajasthan Congress deputy chief whip’s brother, 4 others held for trader’s murder

JAIPUR: Rajasthan police on Wednesday said they have arrested five people, including Congress deputy chief whip Mahendra Choudhary’s elder brother Moti Singh Choudhary, in connection with the murder of salt trader Jaipal Punia, whose postmortem was held amidst tight security in Nagaur. Punia was shot dead in Nagaur on May 14.
Additional DGP (crime) Ravi Prakash Meharda said an SIT led by DIG Anil Kumar Tank has been constituted to probe the murder. “The other four accused are Kuldeep Singh, Firoz Kayamkhani, Hanuman Sankhala and Haroon Kayamkhani,” Nagaur SP Ram Moorty Joshi said, adding that the murder was the result of rivalry over salt mining between Punia and Moti Singh. As per Joshi, sharpshooters were hired to kill Punia. “Different teams have fanned out in multiple cities to track down the shooters,” he said.
