Vadodara: A 68-year-old man died of severe burns after his car caught fire on the outskirts of the city on Wednesday. The incident occurred early in the morning when Haresh Amin was driving his car on the Sindhrot Road. The car suddenly went off the road and rammed into a big pipe. Before Amin could react, the vehicle was engulfed in flames. Amin probably did not even get time to exit the car. He got stuck inside and died on the spot. Firemen rushed to the spot and doused the flames. Amin’s body was sent for a postmortem. “The postmortem report says that he died of burns. Though, there is no hint of any foul play as of now, we are investigating the case from all the angles,” said Rohan Anand, superintendent of police (SP), Vadodara rural. That Amin could not exit his vehicle in time is a mystery for the investigators. Sources said that he owned a farm on Sevasi Road and often travelled on the Sindhrot Road in early mornings. “He was an early riser and often used to drive in the morning. We have requested the senior police officials to investigate the incident in detail,” said a member of Amin’s extended family. Investigation was on to find out how the vehicle caught fire so quickly after the accident.
