Former councillor asks mayor to improve streetlights

Ludhiana: Former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) councillor Inder Aggarwal handed over a memorandum to mayor Balkar Singh Sandhu on Wednesday seeking improvement in the condition of street lights in the city. He claimed that the demands were raised several times, but no action has been taken so far. The additional 15% LED street lights have also not been installed so far.
He claimed that under smart city mission, LED street lights were installed but it turned out to be a failure due to corrupt official system. He added that in the absence of street lights many incidents of theft and snatching and accidents are being reported. The mayor also claimed that he had already sent the proposal to the government for installing 15% additional street lights, but as of now he has not received any reply. tnn
