Three held for stealing two-wheelers

Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada police arrested three persons for stealing two two-wheelers from Bantwal on Wednesday.
The police have seized two motorbikes as well as a car used to commit the crime. The arrested accused are Siddiq alias Aboobakker Siddiq,27, a resident of Kuvettu in Belthangady, Akbar, 23, from Narikombu of Bantwal and Sameer alias Mohammed Sameer,23, from Maladi village of Belthangady.
Police said that a two-wheeler valued at Rs 1 lakh owned by Mukesh, a resident of Kasaba village of Bantwal, went missing from the roadside at Manipalla on April 27. A case in this regard was registered at Bantwal town police station, under Section 379 (punishment for theft) of the IPC. Similarly, another two-wheeler that belonged to Anoop, a railway employee, was found missing from the railway premises in B Mooda village in Bantwal on April 23, and a case was registered at the Mangaluru Railway police station. A special police team led by Shivanshu Rajaputh, ASP of Bantwal sub-division and inspector Vivekananda, succeeded in nabbing the accused.
Youth held for assaulting woman
Mangaluru city police arrested a man for assaulting a woman inside the lift of a commercial complex in the city on Wednesday.
The arrested accused is Shivaraj Kulal,28, a resident of Bantwal. The accused got in touch with the woman through social media. He was allegedly mentally harassing the woman for the past six months. On Tuesday, the accused allegedly abused, assaulted and attempted to murder her through strangling. A case has been registered in this regard, at the Mangaluru Women’s police station.
