Uttar Pradesh: Girl dies in school mishap; teachers, others booked

Police said the incident took place at around 7.40 am when the girl was swinging on the gate which collapsed suddenly and fell on her.
PRAYAGRAJ: A day after a Class 3 student died when an iron gate collapsed on her on the premises of Banemau primary school in Pratapgarh district, an FIR was lodged against all the teachers of the school, gram sabha chairman, management committee members and gram sabha members.
The eight-year-old girl died when the gate of the Banemau primary school campus collapsed on her while she was swinging on it on Wednesday morning. Another student, a boy, standing nearby was also injured in the incident.
Police said the father of the girl Ashok Kumar Saroj, a resident of Banemau, lodged the FIR against all the teachers of the primary school, gram sabha members and chairman of the management committee accusing them of negligence in ensuring safety of his daughter.
He mentioned in the FIR that his daughter had left the house at 7am on Wednesday to attend the morning shift of the school. When she was waiting for the teachers, who generally arrive late, the gate and pillar of the main entrance of the primary school all of a sudden collapsed on her and she died on the spot.
The police said the incident took place at around 7.40 am when the girl, Vandana Saroj (8), was swinging on the gate which collapsed suddenly and fell on her and resulted in her death on the spot.
Kunda police said thorough investigations were underway and action would be initiated once the probe was completed.
