Woman files complaint against fuel station manager

Thiruvananthapuram: Venjaramoodu police registered a case on a complaint filed by a woman employee of a Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) fuel station that she was abused, harassed and maternity benefits were denied by the management.
L Prajitha, wife of Aji of Aji Bhavan near Kalamachal in Vamanapuram, was an employee of the fuel station in Venjaramoodu from 2017. According to her complaint, she was denied maternity benefits by the manager, named Martin John, and she had complained about this to the company. She was later abused and harassed by the accused after learning about the complaint.
"While in the office, I was asked to withdraw the complaint by the manager. When I rejected, he abused me very badly. Due to fear, I collapsed and my colleagues took me to hospital. Later, I was referred to Medical College Hospital,” said Prajitha.
Martin John who denied this allegation told TOI that there is nothing genuine in the complaint. “I have produced the CCTV visuals to the police and the real reason behind the allegation. Let the police investigate it. Let them punish me If I am guilty,” said Martin John.
When contacted, SHO of Venjaramoodu police station Saijunath expressed doubts on the authenticity of the complaint. “We have registered a case under section 354-A of IPC for sexually abusing her.
However, earlier there were some issues associated with the incident over a payment and she was under suspension. We have been examining the CCTV forage and recording the statements of other staff to fully comment on it.”
