Coracle riding, bathing banned in Hogenakkal as Cauvery swells

Dharmapuri: Collector S Divyadarshini on Wednesday banned coracle riding and bathing in Hogenakkal as the Cauvery is in spate.
Teams have been formed to monitor tourists in the waterfall area. “Tourists are barred from visiting five falls, hanging bridge, crocodile park and coracle riding to Marathukadavu area. We have also banned fishing activities,” the collector said.
Cauvery registered 20,000 cusecs of water following rain in the pathways. “The inflow has come down. We will allow tourists only if the flow is reduced to a safe level,” she added.TNN
