KOTA: A day after rats allegedly gnawed one of the eyelids of a paralyzed patient, identified as Roopmati (30), at city’s MBS Hospital,
Lok Sabha speaker
Om Birla visited the woman in the
ICU ward on Wednesday. He interacted with her husband and took an update on her health. Speaker
Birla expressed concern and ire over the mismanagement at the hospital.
“The incident with Roopmati is painful and sorrowful. It is a matter of serious concern that in such a big hospital, the rats could enter the ICU and bite a patient,” Birla said while speaking to the media after the visit.
MBS Hospital is the largest hospital of
Kota division and he noticed heaps of garbage and medical waste in the hospital during the visit on Wednesday. He said that the state health minister should visit the hospital and see the situation. Birla said that better health services to the patients need to be ensured in the hospital.
On frequent power failures in the hospital, Birla said that officials should review services and facilities for the patients at the hospital. They should accordingly prioritise the improvement work as there is a fund crunch for the purpose. Birla said he hoped the minister would visit the hospital and ensure improvement in services and facilities for patients.
