PANAJI: PWD minister
Nilesh Cabral on Wednesday said that the state government will use new technology to repair
potholes during the monsoon. He said Goa will be pothole-free by next monsoon.
“I am trying to introduce a new machine this time where during the monsoon we can fix potholes by putting wind pressure. That machine will dry the patch within half an hour,” the minister said.
Cabral said that he has promised the people of the state to remove the potholes. “I assure you that by next monsoon all roads will be pothole free. When any work that requires the road to be dug is going on, the technical team cannot carry out hot mixing and that’s why you may find potholes along some stretches this season,” he said
Cabral said that most roads in the state are pothole-free. “Here and there some potholes are formed, and we have taken all precautions to see that all potholes are removed,” he said.
The PWD minister said that on some internal roads where the machine cannot reach may remain, but we will find means and ways to fill those too.
He said that the department will permit digging in the monsoon as giving sewerage connections to the people is a priority. “Except for sewerage work, no digging of roads will be allowed for any other purpose in monsoon,”
Cabral said.
