Sikh boy stopped from taking Class X exam in Jharkhand

Amritsar: The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has condemned the reported act of preventing a ‘amritdhari’ (baptised) Sikh student from sitting in the Class X examination in Bokaro, Jharkhand. In a statement issued here on Wednesday, the SGPC president Harjinder Singh Dhami said, “The government of Jharkhand should mark a probe in this matter and take strict action against the accused. The kakaars (five symbols of Sikh faith) are part of Sikhs living and they have the freedom to wear them.” tnn
