Colonel Ajay Kothiyal (retired), who was AAP’s chief ministerial face for Uttarakhand resigned from the primary membership of the party
DEHRADUN: Colonel Ajay Kothiyal (retired), who was AAP’s chief ministerial face for Uttarakhand during the assembly elections held earlier this year, resigned from the primary membership of the party on Wednesday. “I remained a member of AAP between April 19, 2021, and May 18, 2022... Keeping in mind the sentiments of ex-servicemen, elderlies, women, youth and intellectuals, I’m resigning from the primary membership of the party,” said his resignation letter, which he posted on Twitter. TOI had earlier reported that Col Kothiyal was not happy with the AAP central leadership which is believed to have “completely sidelined” him while rejigging the state unit of the party after its poll debacle in the state. One of Kothiyal’s aides said he was not taken into confidence when the party dissolved the state unit. “He was of the view that someone from hills should have been given a chance to lead the party in Uttarakhand but the party felt otherwise,” said Kothiyal’s aide.
