LUCKNOW: Suspecting fidelity, a man choked his wife to death and then surrendered before cops in Lucknow's
Mohanlalganj police station on Wednesday.
The accused, identified as
Krishna, first started a quarrel with his wife and then choked her to death in the wee hours of Wednesday.
Additional deputy commissioner of police,
East Zone,
Qasim Abidi, said that the victim and her husband were living separately for the last six months while the children Kartikeya, 7, Laxmi, 4, lived with Krishna in Mohanlalganj. Sarita lived in Kalli Paschim Bazaar area in
SGPGI police station area. Every week Krishna along with his children used to visit the accommodation of Sarita.
"On Tuesday night also, Krishna paid a visit and after the children dozed off, he picked up a quarrel with his wife. The arguments soon took a fatal turn when Krishna in a fit of rage and fury smothered her with a pillow," said Abidi.
Later, he walked into the Mohanlalganj police station, placed his house keys on the table, and confessed to the crime stating that "Sarita had an affair". The police then rushed to his residence to find the body of Sarita and two children asleep, said the officer. The body was sent for post-mortem examination while the sister-in-law of the accused lodged a case of murder against Krishna at the SGPGI police station.
