Rajasthan Congress MLA Ganesh Ghogra sends resignation letter to chief minister Ashok Gehlot

NEW DELHI: Rajasthan Congress MLA from Dungarpur Ganesh Ghogra on Wednesday sent his resignation letter to chief minister Ashok Gehlot accusing local administration and officers of neglecting him and suppressing his voice.
Ghogra's resignation move comes a day after a case was registered against him for creating ruckus in Dungarpur district.
However, the MLA, who is also the president of the state Youth Congress, has addressed his resignation letter to Gehlot, and not to assembly speaker as per the rules to resign from the assembly.
He has only marked a copy of his resignation letter to speaker C P Joshi.
On Tuesday, Ghogra took part in a dharna outside panchayat bhawan in Dungarpur while district administration officials, including the sub-divisional magistrate and tehsildar, were locked up inside, according to the police.
The officials were locked up by a group of locals who were upset over the non-approval of leases they had applied for at a camp organised earlier as part of the 'Prashasan Gaon ke Sang' campaign.
They were released after the intervention of the district collector. Later on Tuesday night, a police complaint was filed by the tehsildar.
A case was registered against Ghogra and others at Dungarpur's Sadar police station under sections 186 (voluntarily obstructs any public servant in the discharge of his public functions), 143 (unlawful assembly), 342 (wrongful confinement), 347 (wrongful confinement to extort property, or constrain to illegal act) and 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty) of the Indian Penal Code.
Earlier today, Ghogra retweeted posts by his supporters which claimed that the MLA is being ignored by the party.
One of the tweets claimed that the MLA, who has always championed the cause of the adivasis, is not being allowed to work by corrupt officials despite being a member of the ruling party.
"This is an insult not just to Dungarpur but to the entire state of Rajasthan," the supporter said in his tweet.
Another tweet by one of his supporters alleged that an attempt is being made to suppress the voice of the Dungarpur MLA, which was like suppressing the voice of the common man.
"The MLA only wants that people's work are completed on time. It's natural to for him to get angry at carelessness," said the tweet.
Ghogra has also retweeted this message on his timeline leading to speculations about his next move.
