State OKs judicial probe into construction of new assembly, HC buildings

Ranchi: The state government on Tuesday said it would initiate a judicial probe into the alleged irregularities in the construction of Vidhan Sabha bhawan and the new building of Jharkhand high court at Kutte in Ranchi. The information and public relations department issued a statement in this regard, but didn’t specify the timeline or details of the probe commission so far. Sources said that it will be named soon.
“The Jharkhand government has ordered a probe into all irregularities in the construction of the assembly building and the high court building by a judicial commission,” a communication from the state administration said.
The new Vidhan Sabha, which was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in September 2019, was built at a cost of Rs 465 crore. An administrative approval for a sum of Rs 366 crore was given for the Jharkhand high court.
Later, a PIL was filed in the HC demanding CBI inquiry into the alleged financial irregularities in these projects undertaken during the previous BJP regime under the chief ministership of Raghubar Das.
