The BJP is keeping a close watch on the court proceedings in the Gyanvapi case and is keenly awaiting the court decision.

Riddled with criticism from the opposition who have alleged the hand of the BJP behind the Gyanvapi case developments, particularly the videography of the mosque and the Shivling being sighted, the party leadership has made a policy for their spokespersons who appear in TV debates. It has instructed the spokespersons that the current developments in the Gyanvapi case were taking place as per the directions of the court. They want the BJP leaders to refute strongly the opposition's allegations that the party was triggering the developments.

Several party leaders have posted their comments individually on social media which is completely different from the party line.

"This is their individual choice, and everyone is free to say what they feel. The party believes in collective opinion and views and that could be different from individuals," a senior party leader told ET.

Most of the party office bearers on Tuesday were busy preparing for a three-day meeting in Jaipur which will start from May 19.

The BJP leadership is aware that since the matter has started, there will be developments on the front regularly and the issue is going to be in the news for some time.

"If Nandi can wait for 350 years to have the darshan of Bhagvan Shiva, we will wait to ensure every Shiva Linga will be restored to its rightful place," BJP general secretary CT Ravi posted on Twitter.
