Municipal workers seek regularised jobs

Hubballi: The Karnataka Rajya Municipal Workers’ Maha Sangha has urged the government to regularise the jobs of civic workers according to a cabinet decision.
Speaking to the reporters here on Tuesday, Sangha district president Vijay Guntral said there were about 50,000 municipal workers across the state. “The government needs to regularise their jobs. A decision in this regard was taken in a cabinet meeting but the process has not yet started. If the government fails to do it within a month, workers of all districts will protest at their respective deputy commissioner’s office on May 19,” he said.
“Local councils, municipalities and HDMC workers have been leading miserable lives for years. We have requested the government several times. However, the government has not taken any action,” he said. tnn
