NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Tuesday stayed a summon issued to TMC member Abhishek Banerjee and his wife to appear before the Enforcement Directorate at its Delhi office and said the agency can interrogate them at its Kolkata office where he has agreed to be quizzed. In an interim order, the court directed agency to give 24-hour advance notice to Banerjee and the state before interrogating him. The court said Banerjee continued to be a witness in the case as any complaint had so far not been filed against him and his wife. The court on Tuesday said it was passing the order as a similar matter was pending in a case of Nalini Chidambaram, in which Banerjee continues to be a witness, and no complainthad so far been filed against him and his wife. Additional solicitor general SV Raju said Banerjee was not a witness but a potential accused.
