Cops: Question paper for second shift was leaked from school
Police said the paper was allegedly leaked before the second shift on Saturday. “The exam for the specific shift will be held again at a later date,” DGP ML Lather said.
According to additional DG, recruitment and promotion board, Binita Thakur about 1.62 lakh candidates appeared for the exam's second shift on May 14.
Police teams on Tuesday also went to the Diwakar Public Secondary School in Jhotwara, the alleged centre of the cheating racket for further investigation.
According to police, it was found that the question paper for the second shift was leaked from the school after investigators identified and corroborated the leaked photos of the paper with a particular floor design of the school.
Police first confirmed the series number of the question paper, and centres to which it was distributed on that day. The teams then visited four exam centres in Sriganganagar, Sikar and Jaipur.
The investigation team also checked the photos of the question paper with the floor designs and found it matched with the Diwakar school in Jhotwara.
Police then examined the school and discovered glaring irregularities and arrested the accused. Police said that the extent of the leak and its alleged beneficiaries have been identified.
While the Rajasthan police said that they were making efforts to reschedule the exam for the leaked paper, the incident has come close on the heels of a statewide uproar caused by the REET leak when the question paper was stolen from Shiksha Sankul, the office of the education department in Jaipur.
