Ludhiana: The police, on Monday, arrested a man for robbing a woman of her gold jewellery after barging into her house in
Jagdish Nagar, Dugri, last week.
The accused has been identified as
Raju Nepali of Nirmal Nagar, Dugri. The police have recovered Rs 22,000 and two cellphones from his possession.
Complainant Rahul said, “On May 14, I, along with my brother, had gone to a market when I received a call from my wife. She said an unidentified man had entered their house, overpowered her and robbed her of gold jewellery.”
During investigation, police traced the accused as he was captured on a CCTV installed near the house.

Surinder Singh said, “During interrogation, the accused confessed to have targeted the house earlier too, on May 1, when he stole cash and cellphones. The family had then gone to
Naina Devi in Himachal Pradesh. On May 2, when they returned home, they found Rs 22,000 and two cellphones stolen.”
A case under sections 457 (house trespassing) and 380 (theft) of the IPC has been lodged against the accused.
