Uttar Pradesh: 4 killed as bus overturns on Agra-Lucknow e-way

KANPUR: Four persons were killed while 28 others suffered serious injuries after a double-decker sleeper bus overturned in Bangarmau area of Unnao at the Agra-Lucknow Expressway on Tuesday morning.
Injured passengers of the bus were admitted to the community health centre and district hospital.
Doctors stated the condition of seven passengers to be critical. They were later referred to Lala Lajpat Rai hospital of Kanpur. So far, the police have been able to identify one among the four deceased. The deceased is Rakesh Thakur (40) son of Dinanath, a native of Titra Bazar under Meherwan police station in Siwan district of Bihar.
There were a total of 100 passengers travelling in the bus.
They were going from Jaipur Rajasthan to Darbhanga in Bihar. The incident took place near the Geharpurwa village in Bangarmau after the driver lost control over the bus and it overturned. On being informed, teams of Bangarmau and Behta Mujawar police stations and UPEIDA officials and personnel rushed to the spot and launched a rescue operation. Bangarmau Kotwali incharge Brajendra Nath Shukla said the bodies of the deceased have been shifted to the mortuary while injured were admitted to the Bangarmau CHC for treatment.
Two persons died at the CHC while one at the district hospital during the treatment. At the same time, the team of UPEIDA, with the help of a crane, removed the double-decker bus on one side of Agra-Lucknow Expressway and restored the traffic. The police have informed the families of the deceased about the incident. Post-mortem will be conducted after their arrival. Almost all the people in the bus are natives of separate districts including Darbhanga and Siwan in Bihar, said the police and added, “The police got the firstaid done of other passengers, who had sustained minor wounds. Later, they were sent to their respective destination.” Police are now tracing the whereabouts of the bus operator
