THANE: Traffic on Ghodbunder road, Thane was affected for nearly three hours on Wednesday after a chemical-laden tanker hit median while ascending the Patlipada flyover. According to officials, no one was injured in the accident. Avinash Sawant, regional disaster management cell, Thane said the tanker was loaded with10 tonne enthyl benzyl aniline chemical. "The tankers was on its way to Ratnagiri from Gujrat when the driver lost control and hit the median around 2am on Wednesday." The mishap punctured the diesel tank following which fuel started oozing out on the road. Rescue teams that reached the spot halted all traffic on the stretch. Officials said they deployed a crane to shift the capsized tanker to the roadside. Initially, traffic was allowed to move from adjoining lanes after officials sprayed sand on the spilled diesel. Traffic movement was started on the stretch nearly three hours after the mishap.
