Uttar Pradesh: Girl, 8, dies as school's iron gate collapses on her

PRAYAGRAJ: An eight-year-old girl, a student of Class 3, died on Wednesday morning when the gate of her school campus collapsed on her in Pratapgarh district.
Another student, a boy, who was standing nearby, sustained injuries in the incident.
The incident was reported from Banemau Primary School under Kunda Kotwali police station area.
The accident took place at around 7.30am when the girl Vandana Saroj (8) was swinging on the gate which collapsed suddenly and fell on her, said police.
School authorities and villagers gathered on hearing the commotion and took the injured girl to a community health centre where doctors declared her brought dead.
Senior officials of the police and education department reached the school premises and started an investigation.
Rishabh sustained minor injuries and is said to be out of danger, said officials.
Vandana’s father Ashok Kumar is a vendor in Chandigarh.
The school was closed after the tragedy and all students were sent home.
Senior officials said a detailed probe is underway and action would be taken as per the findings on its completion.
