Panchkula: Couple living on rent run illegal guest house, booked

PANCHKULA: A married couple carried out illegal constructions in a rented house in Sector 12 A, started running a part of it as a guest house and threatened the landlord when he objected and tried to enter his house, said police after registering a case against the two.
Nitin Soni, the house owner, had given his house on rent to Raj Kumari and her husband Ravinder Singh on April 8, 2019, after both parties signed a rent agreement.
Soni alleged on July 14, he came come to know the two were running an illegal guest house on his property, a violation of Huda rules. Soni said he had moved a complaint to the police and Huda in July 2020 but no action was initiated. He alleged he had got a toilet and water tank in the basement constructed. "I tried to enter and see my house but the tenants had called over some miscreants who did not allow me entry. The accused have also not paid rent since June 2020," he alleged.
Soni again lodged a complaint, following which police registered a case under sections 406 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), 420 (cheating), 427 (mischief causing damage to the amount of fifty rupees or more) and 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) of the IPC.
