Gurgaon: The health department on Monday formed 33 rapid response teams (RRTs) To check dengue cases during monsoon. Last year, it had set up 13 teams. According to health officials, in a bid to ensure no dengue deaths this year, the number of teams has been increased.
The teams will carry out house-to-house screening in dengue clusters — localities with active transmission of the infection where intervention is required.
In 2021, there were 327 dengue cases and one death in the city. Gurgaon had recorded highest number of cases in 2015 as 451 people were infected. The figure stood at 86 in 2016, 66 in 2017 and 93 in 2018. While 22 cases were reported in 2019, 51 cases were reported in 2020.
The dengue clusters, according to last year’s data, include Sector 52, Sector 51, Sector 46, Sector 13, Sector 39, Sector 65,
Wazirabad, Palam Vihar, Basai, Kanhai Colony, Sirhaul village, Sector 21A, Sector 47,
Dharam Colony, Sector 12, Udyog Vihar phase-1 and
Jharsa village.
“A dengue cluster is where two or more cases are present. We are appealing to people to avoid water accumulation in their localities. The city has 257 fogging machines. The teams will screen all houses in dengue clusters to ensure that no breeding takes place,” said Dr
