1,500 kg plastic bags seized in two raids at one godown

Nagpur: The nuisance detection squad (NDS) of NMC seized 1,500 kg of banned plastic bags in two raids at Chetan Plastic’s godown on Saturday. The owner was also slapped with a fine amounting to Rs 35,000.
Team leader Virsen Tambe said the raids were conducted after they received a tip off.
On Saturday morning, the first raid was conducted at Chetan Plastic’s godown owned by Priyank Chetan Nirani. The NDS seized 1,000 kg of banned plastic bags. The team then imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 and returned with the seized bags.
Later, the team raided received information and again raided the godown in the afternoon. It found another 500 kg of plastic bags.
“In the recent past, it was the third raid in the godown,” said Tambe, adding, “The NDS team imposed another fine of Rs 25,000.”
In another raid, the NDS team from Gandhibagh zone imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 on M/s Nasim Plastic at Shahid Chowk after banned plastic carrybags were found.
In the third case, the NDS team fined Fuel Station Café and Restaurant Rs 5,000 for disposing waste food on the roadside.
