Stock market update: Power stocks up as market rises

NEW DELHI: Power stocks were trading higher on Tuesday at 10:09AM

Adani Power(up 4.99%), Karma Energy(up 4.85%), Orient Green Power Company(up 4.76%), Energy Development Company(up 4.70%), Jaiprakash Power Ventures(up 4.51%), Suzlon Energy(up 4.47%), NLC India(up 4.33%), Transformers and Rectifiers(India)(up 3.23%), KPI Green Energy(up 3.10%) and Indo Tech Transformers(up 2.59%) were among the top gainers.

Jyoti Structures(down 3.23%), ADANIGREEN(down 2.75%), RTNPOWER(down 2.17%), Voltamp Transformers(down 0.95%), Power Grid Corporation of India(down 0.49%), Kalpataru Power Transmission(down 0.35%), Adani Transmissions(down 0.28%), JSW Energy(down 0.18%) and NTPC(down 0.13%) were among the top losers.

The NSE Nifty50 index was trading 110.45 points up at 15952.75, while the 30-share BSE Sensex was up 337.27 points at 53311.11 at around 10:09AM.

Hindalco Industries(up 6.11%), JSW Steel(up 3.73%), Tata Steel(up 3.64%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation(up 3.16%), Coal India(up 2.42%), Eicher Motors(up 2.09%), Reliance Industries(up 1.76%), ITC(up 1.67%), Hindustan Unilever(up 1.49%) and HCL Technologies(up 1.4%) were among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Cipla(down 1.74%), Asian Paints(down 1.11%), HDFC LIFE INSURANCE(down 1.02%), Shree Cement(down 0.69%), SBI Life(down 0.61%), TATA CONSUMER PRODUCTS(down 0.56%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries(down 0.51%), Power Grid Corporation of India(down 0.49%), HDFC Bank(down 0.37%) and UltraTech Cement(down 0.27%) were trading in the red.
