Punjab Police ASI shoots neighbour dead

KAPURTHALA: A Punjab Police ASI shot his neighbour dead in village Talwandi Chaudharian near Sultanpur Lodhi after altercation over a petty issue in the afternoon on Tuesday. He used his licensed gun and pumped two bullets in victim’s chest.
Sources said that accused ASI Hardev Singh had an altercation with his neighbour Jasvir Singh after he could not take his car to his home as the street was partially blocked by a temporary support structure of bamboos and wood panels for carrying out construction at latter’s house.
Deceased’s elder brother said that some argument had taken place on Monday also and the accused pulled down a mason from the support structure but they did not take it seriously considering that it was momentary as otherwise they had good relations with the accused.
“Today after an altercation he brought his weapon from his house and pumped bullets in Jasvir Singh from close range,” he said. Injured man was rushed to a private hospital in Jalandhar but he died after sometime.
Sultanpur Lodhi DSP Rajesh Kakkar said that accused ASI used a licensed .12 bore gun and fired two bullets. He said that the accused was absconding.
It is learnt that accused had availed leave from his office as his daughter was scheduled to fly abroad on Wednesday.
