    The HDFC merger will add muscle to its asset management business

    Synopsis

    HDFC AMC funds were underperforming from 2018 to 2020. However, the performance of funds has improved in the last year as the portfolio's value stocks are doing better. ITC, NTPC, Coal India, NHPC and HPCL are some of the value stocks that have served well in the last year.

    Though HDFC-managed funds have a strong track record, they tend to go through periods of underperformance. These funds have seen lacklustre performance in the last couple of years primarily because of the stock-picking strategy. Given the focus on value, will the AMC get its mojo back in this volatile market and regain market share with product launches?
